Petit taxi, grand taxi, ride-hailing app or private driver: how getting around Marrakech, Casablanca and between Moroccan cities works, and what suits your trip.
Petit taxis: for short rides in town
Petit taxis are small city cabs, each city with its own colour. They take up to three passengers and only drive within the city. They are handy for short trips, but the meter is not always used, so agree on the fare before you get in. Large suitcases may not fit in the boot.
Grand taxis: shared rides between towns
Grand taxis are larger cars that run between towns and from airports. On fixed routes they are often shared: they leave from a taxi rank when every seat is sold. You can also hire one for your group alone, at a price agreed in advance.
Ride-hailing apps
Ride-hailing apps operate in some Moroccan cities, but availability and rules vary from city to city and they are less useful for long trips, airport pickups planned in advance or groups with luggage. Check what works in your city before you rely on one.
A private driver booked in advance
A private driver suits airport arrivals, families, groups and every trip between cities: you know the driver and the vehicle before you travel, the van fits your group and luggage, and you are picked up at your door at the time you choose. On Kalonca, drivers are verified and you compare offers before you book.
